Mini split systems are ubiquitous worldwide. In many countries they’re so common that homes already have the necessary infrastructure, making replacements quick and inexpensive. Our goal is to deliver that same straightforward, cost effective experience on Whidbey Island. (See our Rate Schedule for billing details.)
Consider a large portion of the install cost as an investment in mini-split style infrastructure. We strive to provide understanding on the breakdown of labor and materials on our billing.
We work with our customers to find a solution that works for them. With so many different types of systems and brands on the market, it can get confusing. Well known brands often rebrand lesser known import models, adding to the complexity of picking a system. We strive to help our customers understand the pros and cons of each brand and style of system... and even how they can compliment eachother!
Style | Description | When to Choose |
---|---|---|
Conventional Central (Full Ducted) | One large air handler pushes air through full size ducts to every room. | Whole home retrofits or homes with existing ductwork in good shape. |
Mini-Split Slim Duct (Concealed) | Compact air handler and low profile ducts hidden in ceilings or closets. | Partial home zones where ducts can be tucked away without major remodeling. |
Ductless | Independent wall or ceiling cassettes with no ductwork. Highest efficiency and flexibility. Most common design. | Additions, retrofits, or any home where installing ducts isn’t practical or project cost is prohibitive. These require the least amount of labor to install. |
These are structural elements and connections likely to outlast the HVAC system itself, forming a core part of our installation design considerations.
